Isis is part of a worldwide campaign to impose a religion by gunpoint.
Maajid Nawaz is not afraid to call radical Islam what it is: A toxic culture that puts the entire world at risk—peaceful Muslims included. He spent 15 years recruiting people to radical Islam, and five years in an Egyptian prison. After discovering secular liberalism, Nawaz wants to help bring down ISIS. But first, he has to convince the leading countries in the war against terror that they’re doing almost everything wrong.
Although I admire the fact that this man has come clean in expressing his belief that Jihad is destructive and evil, the video does not deal with more significant issues.
Let’s first get a few things clear:
- The word Islam means “submission”. There is no point in trying to hide the fact that Islam is not peaceful but militant. This fact is adequately revealed in the Quran.
- The doctrine of Jihad is very well established in the Quran and based on the principle of abrogation. The principle of abrogation is very significant in relation to the argument that the majority of Muslims are peaceful, but that there are just a few bad apples who give everyone else a bad name or reputation. Although more moderate Muslims may attempt to escape being labelled Judaist or militant, the fact is that the Quran teaches Jihad and absolute intolerance of all non-Muslims (infidels). The Quran instructs Muslims to behead those who refuse to submit to Islam. For those for claim that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance, let me point out that the principle of abrogation means that the teachings of Jihad appear AFTER the more peaceful doctrines of Islam in the Quran. Furthermore, the teachings in the Quran that appear last, replace the earlier teachings and doctrines of the Quran. This is a bit like the Bible where the New Testament can be seen to be more important than the Old Testament because all New Testament teachings pointed to the future and were mostly fufiled in the New Testament.
- Muslims who follow Jihad are simply obeying what they have been taught in the Quran. This is an inescapable fact and something that is admitted by many Muslims.
- Not only does Islam seek to impose its fundamentalist religion on everyone (and by force if necessary), but in addition, seeks to implement and enforce Sharia Law. Muslims claim that Sharia law is superior to existing legal systems.
The presentation seen in this video creates the illusion that if only we could understand Islam, and take appropriate courses of collective political action, then we could appease those who engage in Jihad without compromising so-called moderate Muslims.
But I have a problem with this argument. I do not claim that every Muslim wants to murder someone but the fact remains that if one is indoctrinated from a very early age by the teachings of the Quran, it is simply a matter of time before the indoctrination will bear fruit in the form of physical violence and hatred.
As a Christian, I do not hate Muslims. All of humanity has been created in the image of God, but according to the Bible, there is only one true God. Even Israel encountered the inevitable negative consequences of worshipping false gods in defiance of Jehovah. The book of Jeremiah provides adequate testimony of how Israel (yes – God’s chosen people), came under his severe discipline and judgement when they chose to go their own way rather than follow God’s laws which were designed to lead them to peace and prosperity.
The battle we see playing out in the world today, is spiritual. The physical dimensions of conflict throughout the world are based on far deeper spiritual dynamics.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12) NKJV
It is nothing less than a battle of religious ideologies.
“Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.” (Revelation 20:7-8)
The Bible describes Satan in the following way:
“The thief [Satan] does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) NKJV
Jesus said that we can identify a tree by the fruit if bears. A good tree bears good fruit but a diseased tree bears diseased and deformed fruit. It should be self-evident to many who watch the news on daily basis, that there is something very fundamentally wrong with Islam. The fruit of Islam belies it’s claims of peace and tolerance.
The solution to the world’s problems is not political – it is spiritual.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 4:16) NKJV
The world is being plunged into ever increasing conflict and turmoil. The Bible speaks of a time that will soon be upon us described as “The Great Tribulation” (Luke 21).
The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age
7 So they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?”
8 And He said: “Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore do not go after them. 9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.”
10 Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake. 13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost. 19 By your patience possess your souls.
The Destruction of Jerusalem
20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
The Coming of the Son of Man
25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
The Parable of the Fig Tree
29 Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. 31 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
The Importance of Watching
34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
37 And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet. 38 Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.
The only true God is Jehovah – a God of love – who sent His Son Jesus to die for the sins of the world
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
True peace cannot be found in a religion that promotes hatred and violence – it can only be found in a relationship with the Prince of Peace – Jesus Christ. I invite my Muslim friends to look to Jesus Christ if they truly want to find peace – because all other so-called spiritual paths only lead to destruction.
