What is Polytheism?

[wpvideo X2TsOtLL]

Polytheism is the belief in many finite “gods” in the world. For example, Hinduism teaches that there are millions of “gods”.

qabalistic tree of life protrayuing spiritual evolutionThe New Age teaches that ultimately we become gods and that in this way we become the collective Cosmic Christ. This is based on the false doctrine that Jesus was not God when he came to earth, but that he became a “christ”; in other words, he became a god or some suggest even God. Jesus (they say) showed all human beings how to become a god. The New Age movement which includes mystical religious orders such as Theosophy, Rosicrucianism and Freemasonry all teach what can best be described as spiritual evolution. Spiritual evolution is the belief that man evolves over time to become a god, and this through initiation processes. These initiations consist of exposure to esoteric mystical “secret knowledge” which transform the initiate into a god by degrees (i.e. step by step).

Unfortunately, this false doctrine (i.e. that Jesus showed us how to become a god) results in the absurd conclusions of the New Age that we eventually merge with the great deity and become “God” ourselves! This is like a mystical spiritual oneness or union with Brahman the Hindu deity. Freemasonry teaches exactly the same thing.

The claim made by proponents of salvation through access to secret esoteric mystical knowledge is that man saves himself. This is like claiming that a person who is stuck in quicksand can extricate himself from the sand. The Bible metaphorically states that man is trapped by the power of sin. This is because every human being has an inherently sinful nature. Like gravity, we are drawn to sin and corruption. We need to be rescued by someone who is not in the same lost condition that we are!

But what about salvation by good works then? Well, the Bible refutes this theory as well – on the basis that because we are not inherently “good” (according to God’s estimation), we cannot be “righteous” (according to God’s standards of righteousness and goodness).

Romans 3:9-26

What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin.  As it is written:  “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” “Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.” “The poison of vipers is on their lips.” “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”  Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

Righteousness Through Faith

But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.  God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—  he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

Romans 3:23

… even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Godbeing justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus

Genesis 8:21

The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

Ecclesiastes 7:20

Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins.

One God

Here are some Scriptures that confirm that there is only one god.

James 2:19

You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!

1 Timothy 2:5

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

Isaiah 43:11

I, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior.

Isaiah 44:6

Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.

1 Corinthians 8:6

Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.

Isaiah 43:10

“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.

John 10:30

I and the Father are one.”

Revelation 1:8

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Colossians 1:16

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

The lie of Polytheism started in the Garden of Eden

Genesis 3:3-4

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Basically, Lucifer (Satan) plants the seed of polytheism in the minds of Eve by claiming that they too could become a “god” (like God) if they ate of the forbidden tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The basis of this lie is that Satan wants to be worshipped by men as he has seen God worshipped. The only basis on which he can become the object of worship is to trick people into believing that he too is a god or in fact God himself. If he fails in this attempt, he the seduces people into worshipping themselves, which is idolatry and leads people into damnation.

For example, Freemasonry worships Lucifer as God and claims that Lucifer is the true God, and that Adonai / Jahweh is the bad guy! This is simply a satanic inversion of what the Bible teaches and leads to the worship of fallen angels (spirit beings) who disguise themselves as angels of light. They are in fact demons. The worship of disguised fallen angels (demons) is false worship, resulting in the worship of a false god – Satan. Ultimately damnation awaits the disciples of Satan.
